'Starmaker' is a multimedia worldbuilding project that began in 2020 with the 3D artwork 'Starman', released on MakersPlace, and expanded into an evolving narrative universe spanning game development, video, puppetry, and collectible object concepts.
The project developed into two works intended to launch concurrently: 'Starmaker: The Blue Orbs' and 'Starmaker Vol 1: Loss'.
The Blue Orbs was conceived as a retro arcade-inspired space shooter paired with a physical collector’s edition containing a vinyl soundtrack, a USB game release, and a Starman vinyl sculpture. The project also included a hybrid video piece combining live-action puppetry and 3D animation, in which Starman awakens as a puppet before entering a digital game world as a spacecraft pilot.
Developed in parallel, Starmaker Vol 1: Loss introduced the universe’s lore through a cinematic short depicting Starman inheriting the role of Starmaker, creator of stars, before his world is invaded. The film was iterated multiple times in collaboration with additional artists and was planned as a collectible edition accompanied by sculptural and printed artifacts from the story world. Though neither edition was ultimately released, both established the foundation of the universe.
In 2022, the story expanded: Starman evolved into Argo, joined by his adopted bear brother Barlow, and their father Marco. The universe grew to include mythic and comedic elements, with the family operating a Star Factory, solving cosmic problems by creating and combining celestial materials. This storyline later merged into the Gurt project through real-world installations and exhibitions, before evolving again into 'Nebuland', a proposed puppet-driven series following the characters’ interplanetary adventures.
While many planned releases transformed over time, Starmaker represents an ongoing exploration of character-driven worldbuilding across digital art, games, film, puppetry, and collectible design, forming the conceptual basis for later projects.
